Westmount entrepreneur hopes to make a ‘Mintz’
Less than
three years after graduating from McGill University with a BA in
Psychology, Westmounter Erica Mintz, 24, has embarked on
a bold new venture which she hopes translates into success. This month she launched her own company called Unique Corporate
Gifts.
Mintz,
who went to work for the Pointe Claire-based corporate giant Future
Electronics after graduation, already has her own web site at www.uniquecorpgifts.com.
“Working as a marketing manager at Future was a great experience, but
I knew I had to start my own thing,” she says. “I’ve always had a knack for gift items. I love to buy them and I always wanted to be
my own boss. Hence, the
two came together and I am here, at 24 years old, a female entrepreneur
in Montreal. I’m very excited.”
The corporate gifts
Mintz is making available are indeed unique, from desk clocks that
double as book storage space, to a mini briefcase opening up to
display a calculator. Mintz
has also added a charitable component to her company.
A percentage of sales will go towards Breast Cancer Research. “Through these donations,” says Mintz, “we
hope to help in the fight against this disease and supply much needed
funds for education, early detection, screening and treatment.” Bravo!
